Then you must use Amazon SES to improve email delivery for your WordPress website.

Amazon SES is a Powerful tool that used for sending emails of businesses.

The Amazon SES mailer and WP Mail SMTP let you securely use this service tool to make email delivered.

In this article, I will show you how to set up an Amazon SES mailer in WP Mail SMTP.

 

What is Amazon SES?

Amazon SES is a tool specially designed to send emails for a business. They mainly focus to improve the deliverability to emails. Which goes out from the website.

They also provide a dashboard to create and send emails to others.

It’s a paid email marketing tool but free for the first year.

If you want to use Amazon SES, then you must have an SSL certificate on your website.

It’s a cost-effective tool, you only have to pay for what you use there are no fixed expenses, charges depends on how many emails & attachment you sent.

 

Set Up AWS Amazon & Switch AWS to Product Mode.

First, you need to sign-up with a free Amazon AWS account.

While your account is free and mailer setup does not require any paid service, but you have to fill your credit card details to set up your account.

Next, once you have sign-up with AWS account their system will determine your region based on filled address.

If AWS unable to recognize your region, you can select the close one.

Now you need to create an Amazon Web Service account, next step to set up an IAM user.

This will give you an access key which will need you later.

 

First, you have to go Amazon Web Service IAM user page.

Here you need to first sign in then click on the Add User button.

Now you need to set up a new user which one would you like to use, add a name in the user name field.

Well, I recommend you to use the yourdomain_wpmailsmtp

Then check the Access Type programmatic access box.

After doing this click on the next permission button to proceed.

 

Next, you need to get permission for this new user to select the attach existing policies directly.

Then type Amazon SES Full Access into the search box.

Here you will see an Amazon SES Full Access must check the given box next to this option to add the user.


Next, click on the next: tags button then skip the next page and click on the next: review button.

Well to the next page, you will see all the details you selected earlier. You must check information then click on the Create User button.

 

Now, AWS Amazon will show you a success message, you will also see Access Keys that will need you later.

You must copy and keep them at a safe place because you will not be able to see these keys again once you close the tab.

Switching AWS to Product Mode

Amazon AWS account comes with default sandbox mode. In this mode, you will not be able to send emails to the email addresses that have been verified through amazon.

Here you will know how to move from sandbox mode to production mode which allows you to send emails to everybody.

First, you have to click on this link to create a request with Amazon Web Services.

Next, Be sure to select the service limit increase is selected.

Now you’ll have to fill out the case classification form. This is an important step to let know Amazon SES that your site will be sent emails for a legitimate purpose.

Here are the details you will require to fill out the form.

Limit Type: SES Sending Limits

Mail Type: Transactional

Web URL: Your Website URL

My Email Sending Complies That With The AWS Service Term and AUR: Yes

I Have a Purpose to Handle Bounces and  Complaints: Yes

Region: Choose the same region as when you set up your AWS account.

Limit: Derived Daily Sending Quota

Limit Value: Estimate the maximum number of emails you expert your site to send per day.

Use Case Description: In this field, you have to share about your website and why you want to send emails.

Your description must be within 5000 characters.

Once you have filled all these details

Next, click on the submit button. You will receive two emails in your box from Amazon Web Service.

It will confirm that a new case has been created. AWS Amazon will review your submission and let you know the result within one business day.

But, you can continue to the next step.

 

Setup WP Mail SMTP

You can set up webmail SMTP on a WordPress site via waiting for the AWS review.

First, you need to install and activate WP Mail SMTP on your website.

Once you have activated the plugin, you need to go to WP Mail SMTP in the WordPress dashboard and click on Settings.

On the next page, you will see a From Email option where you need to put an email that you want to use.

It’s better to use a business email & domain-specific email.

Example: [email protected]

You can see the From Name option below the From Email. This is the name that is associated with the emails. Which sent out by default it will set by your site name but you can change if you like to use something else.

Then check the Force From Name option to apply this setting site-wide.

Next, you have to scroll down a little to see the mailer option. Here you must select the Amazon AWS option.

I also recommend you to check the Return Path to set the return-path to match from the email.

Next, you will see a window with Amazon SES titled. Here you need to add the access keys which you have created earlier in the AWS account.

Copy and Paste the Access Key and Secret Access Key.


Once you have completely set up the keys next you need to select the Region.

It can be pre-selected so check is this correctly matched with the Amazon SES.

Now you have added all the WP Mail SMTP settings, click on the save settings after clicking on the save settings option an additional option will be open ask to verify emails.

Here you need to add your email so click on Add an Email Address then a popup window will appear ads the email and click on the Send Email Verification button.

An Email will be sent to your from Amazon Web Services including a verification link, make sure to click on that link within 24 hours to verify.

Once you have verified the email, you can go back to your WP Mail SMTP settings and refresh the page. You’ll see the email has been verified.

Send a Test Email

Well, your WP Mail SMTP settings are complete. Now it’s time to test to check check that everything is working properly or not.

WP Mail SMTP  has a test email section that allows you to test emails.

To do this, go to the WP Mail SMTP settings page and select the Email Test option.

Here you will need to add an email in Send To field to send an email.

Keep the HTML default on if. You like to send a plain text email.

Then click on the Send Email button.

Once after sending the email you will see a success message.

Congrats, you have successfully set up your site to send wordpress emails with Amazon SES. This will improve your email delivery.
