It’s important to know where your leads coming from.
By setting up lead source tracking on your site, you gain insights into which marketing campaign or referral website drives more leads.
In this post, I’ll show you how to track your form conversions sources in Google Analytics.
Tracking form conversion source in google analytics
Tracking form conversion can be a time-consuming process. Every time you publish a lead generation form. You need to configure a goal in a google analytics account and place an extra tracking code on your website.
This can be more difficult if you place lead generation form all over your site.
But, there is the easiest way to do that you can setup form conversion tracking in google analytics by monsterinsights. It will automatically track all your form conversions without messing with code.
To do this, you need to install and activate the monsterinsights form add-on. It works perfectly with almost any contact form plugin without any configuration on your analytics account.
Once the plugin installed, the button change to say activate. Go ahead and click the activate button to make save the addon is activate and ready to use.
Monsterinsights will now automatically record data of your form and display them in its report. You can view the report by going to insights » report » forms.
For each form you can view its impressions conversions and conversion rate.

Lead source tracking in google analytics
Now that you’ve set up form conversion tracking in google analytics, you might want to se which source drove the most leads to your site.
While monsterinsights shows you how you form performing and which one converts well.
To find out where you leads come from, you’ll have to go to your google analytics account.
Once you have logged in, select Behaviour » events » top events from the menu on the left. Here you can see form as an event category click on the form.
Next, you will see event action and total impression and conversion. Since want to view the source of people that have complete the form, click on conversions.
You will now see all the forms that we were submitted by visitors, Now click the form that you’re interested in finding the source.
This could be your contact form, quotation form, or any lead generation form.
Once you have selected a form, the next thing is using the count dimension.
You can do that by clicking on the secondary dimension dropdown menu and then select source/mention the option is available under acquisition, but you can also type source/mention in the search bar.
You can go a step further here and breakdown your data using an advanced filter.
Let’s say you are interested in traffic that other websites send you in this course, referred.
Using this advanced filter, you can narrow down the data to show you only referrals as a source to do that, click on advanced next to the search bar.
Now select include » source/medium » containing and then enter referral in the last field.
Once you’ve entered these details, click Apply.
The filter will now only display referral source for your complete form. you can do the same for other source and use an advanced filter for driving deep into your form consuming sources.
Tracking form conversion source in WPForms
Another way to tracking your form conversion source is by using WPForms. Its user journey addon records the path a visitor takes before submitting a form on your website.
To start you will need to install and activate the addon from wpfoms. but do note that you will need its pro or higher plan to access the addon and view the reports.
Go to WPForms from your wordpresss admin area and then click addons now navigate to users journey addon and click install addon.
Once the addon is activated, go to WPForms > Entries and then select the form you want to see the user journey.
After that, you will see a list of entries for your form click the view button for any user and see the journey they tool before submitting the form.
Next, Scroll down to the user journey and view the steps a visitor took on your website. The report shows which page viewed. Its date, time, and duration.
and if you click on the option then, WPForms will show the URL parameter of the page a visitor used. you can even open the page by clicking by the open window in a new tab icon.
