Step 1: Create a Mailchimp Subscription Form in WordPress

The first thing you will need to install and activate the WPFroms plugin. You can follow this step-by-step guide on how to install a plugin in WordPress.

Next, go to the WPForms » Addons and find the Mailchimp Addon.

Once your Mailchimp addon is activated, go to the WPForms » Add New the newsletter signup form template.

Now you can create a simple newsletter signup form.

Here, You can add additional fields by dragging them from the left-hand panel to the right-hand panel.

Then, click on the field to make any changes, you can also click on a form field and drag it to rearrange the order on your Mailchimp subscription form.

On the form filed consider adding to the GDPR agreement field.

This form field helps you to create GDPR complaint form by giving your site visitors an explicit way to agree to you storing their personal information and sending the email marketing materials.

Keep in mind all you have to do is click on the form field to make changes to the default language to the GDPR form field has.

In order to use the GDPR form field, you’ll need to go WPFroms » Settings and click on the GDPR Enhancements checkbox.

By doing this, you will enable the GDPR enhancement feature WPForms has available for you to make complying with GDPR that much easier.

You will be able to:

  • Disable user cookies
  • Disable user details which include IP address and user agent data
  • Access the GDPR form field for your WordPress forms

 

Once you are done customizing your form, click Save.

Now, we will take a look at how to configure the MailChimp settings so you can connect your signup form to your newsletter service.

 

Step 2: Connect Your Form to Mailchimp

TO connect your newsletter signup form to Mailchimp, go to Marketing » Mailchimp

Next, click Add New connection. A box will be a popup asking you to name this connection.

Enter any name, since this is for your reference only, and click on ok.

On the next screen, you’ll need to add your Mailchimp API key. You can get this by signing in to your Mailchimp account.

Then, go to your Profile » Extras » APi keys.

Copy and paste your Mailchimp API key into WPFroms, Then confirm by clicking Add new connection.

 

Once you enter your API key, do the following.

 

  • Select your Mailchimp account to pick the email list you want people to be added when they subscribe.
  • Click on the email address dropdown and any other field you want to be added to your Mailchimp account when someone subscribes.
  • Enable conditional logic if applies to your form.
  • Enable the double option if you want. If you are interested in letting your visitor pick the mailing list they want to join.

Once you configure these settings click save.

 

Step 3: Configure Your Subscribe form Notification

Notifications are a great way to send an email whenever your subscription form is submitted on your website.

You can send an email to yourself which WPFroms does automatically unless you disable form notification.

You can also send a notification to a member of your team by adding their email to the sender email address field.

In addition, if you use the smart tag you even send a form notification to your site visitor to let them know their form has been received.

 

Step 4: Configure  your Subscribe Form Configuration

Configuration is a great way to let your site visitors know immediately that their form has been submitted.

WPForms lets you choose from three types of confirmation.

  1. Massage: This confirmation type will display a simple message once a site visitor submits their form letting them know their form has proceeded.
  2. Show Page: This takes site visitors to a specific page on your website such as redirect to a thank you page.
  3. Go to URL (Redirection): This confirmation option sends visitors to a different website.

 

Step 5: Add Your Mailchimp Subscription Form to Your Subscriber

After you create your Mailchimp subscribe form, you need to add your site. WPForms allow you to add your form in different locations such as blog posts, pages, and sidebar.

Create a post or page in WordPress and then click on the add form button.
